The Gran Fondo New York is a huge bike tour that comes through Rockland County once a year and is worth experiencing. Consider following Seven Lakes Drive which traverses Harriman and Bear Mountain State Parks.
Rockland County Hiking & Outdoor Recreation
32,000 aces of untouched parklands should be enough for you to get a start in Rockland County. The towns of Suffern and Sloatsburg are reachable by train and are wonderful entry points for Harriman State Park – NY’s 2nd largest state park. and they are reachable by train. Stony Point is a historic community that played an important role in securing our country’s independence in the American Revolution. On weekends see a living history camp with blacksmithing, musketry, artillery, cooking, 2 pm battle tour, and demonstrations.
